Tertius. Near the end he steps out of the background: "I, Tertius, who wrote this letter, greet you" (Romans 16:22). Paul dictated; Tertius put it to papyrus.
Why it’s interesting
Using a trained scribe was normal in the ancient world, and it complicates any simple question of "who wrote" a letter. A scribe's hand could shape wording and style, not just take dictation.
