DID YOU KNOW?
The answer
Disagree. Psalm 137 is sung "By the rivers of Babylon" (Psalm 137:1), and it asks the Lord to remember the day Jerusalem fell (Psalm 137:7). The Babylonians destroyed Jerusalem in 586 BC, centuries after David, who lived in the eleventh or tenth century BC.
Why it’s interesting
Nobody knows who wrote most of the psalms, or when. Some point to an earlier time: Psalm 72, for example, suggests a king still on the throne. Most could come from many different periods.
