DID YOU KNOW?
The answer
John. His crowd "took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him" (John 12:13). In Mark people spread "leafy branches that they had cut in the fields" on the road. In Matthew they "cut branches from the trees," and in Luke there are cloaks on the road and no branches at all.
Why it’s interesting
John never says anyone waved the palms or laid them on the road. He also tells it in a different order: the crowd comes out first, and then Jesus finds a young donkey and sits on it (John 12:14).
