Noah, his descendants, and every living creature — "the birds, the domestic animals, and every animal of the earth" (Genesis 9:9–10). The covenant is unconditional; Noah is not asked to do anything.
Why it’s interesting
The Bible's first covenant includes the animals by name, and no terms are attached — the whole weight of the promise is carried on one side. Later covenants will look very different.
