The answer
"The sons of God saw that the daughters of humans were fair; and they took wives for themselves" (Genesis 6:1–2). Their children are "the heroes that were of old, warriors of renown" — and the Nephilim are on the earth in those days.
Why it’s interesting
Who the sons of God are has been argued for two millennia: heavenly beings (the phrase means the divine court in Job), the line of Seth, or human kings. The text spends four verses on it and moves on.
