The valley of Slaughter. "The days are surely coming, says the Lord, when it will no more be called Topheth or the valley of the son of Hinnom but the valley of Slaughter, for they will bury in Topheth until there is no more room" (Jeremiah 7:32).
Why it’s interesting
The next verse leaves the dead unburied, food for birds and animals, with no one to frighten them away (Jeremiah 7:33). In that world, a body left lying in the open was a deep disgrace.
