Jesus's saying about cutting off a hand or tearing out an eye is told three times. Which telling ends "where their worm never dies and the fire is never quenched"?

The answer

Mark 9. Mark's telling ends, "to be thrown into hell, where their worm never dies and the fire is never quenched" (Mark 9:47-48). Matthew 5:29-30 and Matthew 18:8-9 have the eye and the hand, but not that line.

Why it’s interesting

Some ancient copies of Mark repeat the worm line two more times, as verses 9:44 and 9:46. The NRSVue leaves those two verses out and notes them at the foot of the page.
