The Lord speaks to the fish, and it vomits Jonah out onto the dry land (Jonah 2:10). The book does not say where that dry land was. In the next verse, God sends Jonah to Nineveh a second time.
Why it’s interesting
Another prophet uses the same picture for a whole people. In Jeremiah 51:34, King Nebuchadrezzar of Babylon "has swallowed me like a monster" and then "has spewed me out."
