Jonah asks to die as the sun beats down on him (Jonah 4:8). Which earlier prophet also sits down and asks God to take his life?

The answer

Elijah. In 1 Kings 19:4 he sits under a solitary broom tree in the wilderness and says, "It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life."

Why it’s interesting

Elijah is not the only one. Moses asks God to put him to death at once (Numbers 11:15), and Jeremiah curses the day he was born (Jeremiah 20:14).
