Jonah calls God "gracious and merciful, slow to anger, abounding in steadfast love, and relenting from punishment" (Jonah 4:2). Which other prophet has those words exactly?

The answer

Joel. Joel 2:13 has the same words, and the next verse asks, "Who knows whether he will not turn and relent," much as the king of Nineveh does in Jonah 3:9 (Joel 2:14).

Why it’s interesting

In Joel the words come with a call to "rend your hearts and not your clothing" (Joel 2:13). There they are spoken to God's own people, telling them to return to him.
