Wisdom. The fruit of the Spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23, NRSV) — nine qualities. Note that Paul's noun is singular: one fruit with nine facets, set against the plural "works of the flesh" just before it.
Why it’s interesting
It's a single sentence in Paul, and the wording varies between translations ("generosity" vs. "goodness"). The Latin tradition behind Catholic usage counts twelve, following a longer form of the verse — so even the number has a history.
