In Genesis 1, humans are created last, after the animals (1:24-27). In Genesis 2, the man is formed first (2:7), then the animals (2:19), then the woman (2:22). Genesis 2:19 is a translation crux: critical readings take "formed" as sequential, while some translations render it "had formed," which smooths the difference away.
Why it’s interesting
Genesis opens with two creation accounts of different shape and vocabulary — one majestic and ordered, one earthy and intimate. Reading them side by side is a good way to see that the Bible has more than one voice.
