The answer
Mark 16:7 and Matthew 28:10 send the disciples to Galilee, and Matthew stages the appearance there — though Mark's earliest text ends at 16:8 without narrating one. In Luke 24 and Acts 1:4 the appearances are around Jerusalem and the disciples are told to stay in the city. John has appearances in Jerusalem and then a further one in Galilee (John 21).
Why it’s interesting
One tradition centers the appearances in Galilee, the other in Jerusalem — and John contains both. Mark is the pivot: it promises a Galilean appearance that its earliest text never delivers, so part of the puzzle is what Mark's missing ending would have said.
