All four differ. Mark 15:26: "The King of the Jews." Luke 23:38: "This is the King of the Jews." Matthew 27:37: "This is Jesus, the King of the Jews." John 19:19: "Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews."
Why it’s interesting
The wording lengthens as you move from Mark to John — each evangelist summarizing the charge with different economy. John adds a separate detail worth knowing on its own: the sign was written in Hebrew, Latin, and Greek (19:20).
