"We brought nothing into the world, so that we can take nothing out of it." Is that line in the Bible?

The answer

In the Bible. It is 1 Timothy 6:7, three verses before the famous line about the love of money. The letter adds that food and clothing are enough, and it calls that contentment (1 Timothy 6:6-8).

Why it’s interesting

The same thought stands in two older books. Job says it after losing everything: "Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked shall I return there" (Job 1:21). Ecclesiastes says it of every worker, who goes back "naked as they came" (Ecclesiastes 5:15).
