DID YOU KNOW?
The answer
Luke. In Mark the man "went away grieving" (Mark 10:22), and in Matthew he does the same (Matthew 19:22). In Luke he is "a certain ruler" who "became sad, for he was very rich" (Luke 18:23), and the text never says he leaves. Jesus "looked at him" and said the camel line (Luke 18:24-25).
Why it’s interesting
Only Matthew calls him young (Matthew 19:20-22). Mark alone adds that Jesus, "looking at him, loved him" (Mark 10:21). Luke alone makes him a ruler (Luke 18:18).
