Tentmaker. In Corinth he stayed and worked with Aquila and Priscilla "because he was of the same trade" (Acts 18:3). His letters echo the workbench: he reminds churches that he labored with his own hands rather than live at their expense.
Why it’s interesting
A trained Pharisee with a manual trade was nothing unusual in that world — and the trade traveled well, since every market town needed tents and awnings. Some scholars suggest the workshop itself was where much of his day-to-day missionary conversation happened.
