Benjamin. Twice in his letters — Romans 11:1 and Philippians 3:5 — Paul identifies himself as an Israelite "of the tribe of Benjamin."
Why it’s interesting
The tribe's most famous son was Israel's first king — also named Saul. A Benjaminite family naming a boy Saul was naming him for the tribe's great king, so the echo sat inside his name his whole life.
