Mark 14:30 has Jesus say Peter will deny him three times 'before the rooster crows twice.' Matthew, Luke, and John all say simply 'before the rooster crows' — once. Worth knowing that 'twice' and the first crowing are themselves absent from some manuscripts of Mark.

Mark is usually the spare, hurried Gospel, yet here it carries the extra detail the others lack. It's a small, precise difference that rewards reading the accounts closely rather than blending them into one.
