The existence of a historical Jesus is about as close to consensus as ancient history gets — held by Christian, Jewish, and secular scholars alike. Even a skeptic like Bart Ehrman wrote a whole book arguing the 'he never existed' idea doesn't hold up.
Why it’s interesting
Paul, writing within a couple of decades, says he personally met Jesus' brother James (Galatians 1:19) — the kind of everyday detail historians lean on. Debate rages over who Jesus was; that he was is another matter.
