The answer
Joshua 10:13 says the long day is written 'in the Book of Jashar' — a source the Bible quotes (also at 2 Samuel 1:18) but that hasn't survived. The dramatic lines read like a snatch of ancient poetry. A book sold today as the Book of Jasher is a much later work, not the source Joshua and 2 Samuel cite.
Why it’s interesting
The Bible openly refers to books it expects readers to know, several of which are simply gone. It's a reminder that scripture grew within a wider library of ancient Israelite writing, most of it lost.
