DID YOU KNOW?

"Most of what Matthew and Luke share that Mark does not have is stories of what Jesus did." Agree or disagree?

The answer

Disagree. Most of it is sayings of Jesus: the Beatitudes, love your enemies, do not judge, the Lord's Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13; Luke 11:2-4). Only a few stories are in it, such as the three temptations in the wilderness.

Why it’s interesting

Scholars call this shared material the double tradition. It runs to about 220 to 235 verses, whole or in part. It holds almost nothing from Jesus's birth, arrest or crucifixion.
